A short, intimate docu-portrait bridging 1950s Apartheid Zimbabwe and present-day Stockport, Kamouflage delves into the nuanced identity of Fudge, a former soldier, stuntman and identical twin.
----
Born during apartheid in 1950’s Zimbabwe, Fudge grapples with his elusive identity. Considered neither black nor white, he and his peers in the army identified as the ‘Unidentified Nation’.
Set in Fudges’ Stockport home, the tumultuous environment is testament to his creative mind — curious and full of nostalgia; memorabilia from his years spent as a stuntman adorned floor to ceiling.
The theme of identity runs throughout the film; having shared his existence with his identical twin brother until his sudden passing, Fudge reckons with what it means to grieve his own reflection, confronting the reality of existing as an individual.
Kamouflage is an intimate portrayal of a man whose dynamic and spirited presence hides a deep, simmering sadness, shaped by a turbulent past and unresolved grief.
